Learning Goal: Search for information from the web, gather it, write from it.

Directions:

1. Get the paper copy of the guided search sheet. Your subject today is SAINT CLARE a medieval European figure. Write a paragraph on WHO she was and WHAT WAS HER IMPORTANCE. Use the whole sheet, fill in all the “DO” sections.

When you are done, you may do homework or typing games.

1. Construct a spreadsheet following these directions you can download here. Do you remember how to open a new spreadsheet in Open Office? Click Applications>Office Open Office .org Spreadsheet..

2. Show it to Mr. Litt to check off when you are done.

Learning Goal two activity:

1. Download the worksheet here. Open it to have it ready then minimize it so you can keep reading directions here.

2. Search for information, then write a paragraph on this historic person: JOAN OF ARC.

Tell me who she was, when she lived and what she is known for. Use the wortksheet to do this search and writing assignment on Joan of Arc. Foolw the steps on the worksheet and do your work on the worksheet.

Learning goal: Learn how to find information on the web and write from it. Use Mr. Litt’s process of 4 strategies to find web pages.

Directions:

You will be getting information FROM SITES YOU FIND on the topic of “what makes a great school website?”

1. Download the worksheet here, open it, then come back to this blog entry and read directions more.

2. The worksheet asks you to do a lot of things. The worksheet also teaches a lot of things, so read everything in order, step by step, carefully. To make things clearer I put DO in big letters when there is a task and not just reading to learn.

3. Ask questions often! Go to the worksheet and get going!

8th Gr. Assignment #33

Learning Goal: Pie graphs, bar graphs and line graphs work best for different information.

Directions

Today we are going to do a short exercise on different

types of graphs and their uses.

1. First go to the podcast called “Types of Graphs”. Podcast click here.

2. Next download the spreadsheet, it is called “graphexercise.xls.”  Make a graph for each sheet, there are five sheets total. The graphs are not always easy to make so you might have to try a few times on a couple of them. Spreadsheet download site click here.

3.Follow Mr. Litt’s instructions for a reflection sheet when you have finished all the graphs.
